Is Anyone Listening?

“What am I supposed to do? He won’t even listen to me!” How many times have exasperated mothers or fathers cried out these words? Why does it so often seem that no one is listening to the voice of reason? Why is it that the ones we love the most are seemingly unable to hear our words of warning?

Perhaps it is because they do not want to hear the message. We live in a society that no longer accepts anything as, “absolute truth.” Therefore, even the warnings of God’s Word are flippantly tossed aside and disregarded. When people refuse to hear what God says, is it any wonder they refuse to listen to any advice we may offer? After all: whatever truly wise counsel we may provide is always based upon the truths of God’s Word.

The Bible teaches us that there are only two things in this world that will never change: One is the character and nature of God; the other is human nature. Human nature never changes, unless God, in His saving grace and mercy, intervenes!

The culture in which we now find ourselves believes only those things it desires to believe. That is why the world will affirm the goodness and grace of God, while totally rejecting His demand for holiness. That is why the world will claim a relationship with God, while living in opposition to the commands of scripture.

In Leviticus 19:1-2, the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: “Speak to all the congregation of the children of Israel, and say to them: ‘You shall be holy, for I the Lord your God am holy.'”

In John 14:22-23, Jesus said: “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him. He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine but the Father’s who sent Me.”

1 John 2:3-5 says: “Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. He who says, ‘I know Him,’ and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him.”

We are living in a world that is duplicating the Gnostic beliefs that began infiltrating the Church of the first century. The belief system of the Gnostic gospel proclaims that the spirit within man is good; It is only man’s flesh that is evil. That is why our culture can live in open, defiance of God’s word and then proudly proclaim, “I know I do some bad things, but deep inside, I am a good person! After all, God knows my heart.”

Those falsely claiming to know God see no need to change their behavior patterns. Such people discount the stern warnings of scripture. Their false sense of “inner goodness,” will allow them to persist in unrighteousness. Thus, they fulfill the passage from Revelation 22:10-11, printed above.

The Bible says most people will be unprepared for the Lord’s return. In Revelation 22:12-13, Jesus said: “And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.”

Are you ready for His is coming in 2018?

Blessings & Peace,

Brother Dan

“And he said to me, ‘Do not seal the words of the prophecy of this book, for the time is at hand. He who is unjust, let him be unjust still; he who is filthy, let him be filthy still; he who is righteous, let him be righteous still; he who is holy, let him be holy still.'”
